HEDAsupercap Technology Showcased at Electronica 2024 in Munich

This week, at the renowned Electronica 2024 expo in Munich, Germany, HEDAsupercap’s cutting-edge supercapacitor technology was in the spotlight.

Representatives from VITO, a partner in the HEDAsupercap consortium, presented a demonstrator of the project’s battery management system (BMS) at the VITO/EnergyVille booth. This technology is instrumental to the HEDAsupercap project and highlights its commitment to advancing high-performance energy storage solutions.

The BMS demonstrator at Electronica is a foundation for the innovative supercap management system that will be implemented in HEDAsupercap’s key demonstrator project: an electric scooter (e-scooter) optimised for last-mile mobility. This supercap-based system, designed for integration with lithium-ion batteries, will enable efficient energy management, helping to regenerate braking energy and extend the vehicle’s range. Additionally, HEDAsupercap’s developments are set to benefit other consumer goods applications, supporting Europe’s drive towards sustainable and efficient energy storage solutions.

The HEDAsupercap project, funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme, aims to develop asymmetric hybrid supercapacitors that surpass current energy storage standards in terms of power density, environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness.
