HEDAsupercap General Assembly – Advancing Hybrid Supercapacitors at VITO, EnergyVille

Genk, Belgium – September 17-18, 2024

The HEDAsupercap consortium, a European collaboration focused on the development of High Energy Density Asymmetric Hybrid Supercapacitors, held its General Assembly at VITO, EnergyVille in Genk, Belgium. Over the course of two days, all project partners gathered to review progress, share key research developments, and strategize the next phases of this innovative project.

The meeting opened with welcome remarks by Jeroen Buscher from VITO, followed by an address from project coordinator Miguel Ángel Muñoz from INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, setting the tone for a collaborative and insightful event.

Technical Presentations and Strategic Discussions

The first day was packed with technical sessions and progress updates, with a strong focus on Work Package 3 (WP3), which deals with the development of novel supercapacitor components.

The presentations were followed by lively discussions and a lab tour at EnergyVille, giving participants a closer look at the cutting-edge research environment.

Networking and Cultural Engagement

Beyond the technical discussions, the General Assembly provided an excellent platform for strengthening partnerships and fostering collaboration among the consortium members. The event also featured a visit to an old coal mine in Genk, offering participants a glimpse of the region’s rich industrial history. The day concluded with a group dinner in Genk’s city center, where informal networking helped further solidify relationships.

Future Outlook

The second day of the meeting continued with strategic planning and an in-depth review of the next actions for the project. The partners emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and maintaining momentum as the project moves towards prototyping and testing phases.
